I am directed to acknowledge with thanks

the receipt of your letter of 21st. ultimo, and to inform you in

reply that Mr. Drayson, Chief Clerk, in this Office has under-

taken to index the Library in the Council Chamber without addi-

tional remuneration and that the system by which documents in

this Department are recorded and filed has already been revised

and is now in full working order.

In expressing my acknowledgments to you

for your willingness to undertake this work, I have therefore

to acquaint you that it will probably be completed before the

date of your return to this Colony.
